Today we left St Mary Bourne and headed for the Silk Mill in Tufton. This is the only place that makes silk in England. The mill was quite interesting but as it was a Saturday no spinning or weaving was taking place. I tried really hard to buy some souvenir in the gift shop but couldn’t quite find the perfect memento so went away empty handed! As we were staying a second night in St Mary Bourne we spent the day travelling in and around the countryside. We travelled through many quaint country villages and ended up going for a walk around Salisbury which is a bigger country town. There was a market in the central square but it was a very bleak rainy cold day so by the time we got there they were packing up. None the less we went for a walk to the cathedral where a service blessing all the lay preachers had just finished and hoards of people were coming out of the church. Luckily we could go into the church and view the inside as it was amazing, We walked back to the car along the river in the icy cold sleeting rain and wind. It was nice to get back into the car and turn on the heated seats!! After this we headed for Stonehenge which was even colder. As it was late afternoon and extremely cold we viewed it from outside the fence hence saving ourselves about 15 pounds and a long walk with the risk of being frozen to death. We then headed back to Bourne Valley Inn where we spent our second night off the ship.
