Capetown

I forgot to add some quick facts so here they are:

Population around 4 million

Situated approximately 40 miles from the Cape of Good Hope, the south western tip of Africa

Described as a “world in one country” with its soaring mountains, fertile valleys, sweeping beaches, glorious flowers, exceptional wineries and Mediterranean climate.

Currency is SA Rand

Malay Quarter is where the streets are cobbled and the houses are painted different colours

Signal Hill was an observation post during the first settlement and is 1148 feet high

Table Mountain is the most famous attraction accessible by cable car and other means including foot.  Each cable car holds 65 people so are quite big and each car rotates as it descends so everyone has a view and I believe the tickets were quite expensive.  We viewed it from the ship!

I was surprised when two passengers who have been on board since the beginning in January, were asked what their favourite port has been so far and one said China and the other said Capetown.  I thought Sydney might have got a rating as it is such a beautiful harbour.

Now onto our overland trip.
