We are on our last sea day which is the seventh in a row. We have loved our sea days. Some are complaining because it is too long and some are loving it like us. We find plenty to do and dread in a way our port days as they are very tiring rushing here and rushing there. You might find it hard to believe but I have not purchased anything at any of the ports so far BUT I have purchased some things on the ship but not much… a new watch for both of us and some new perfumes for me. I did manage to smash a small (very small) bottle of Dune as it kept falling out of the stupid vanity cupboard. It fell into the sink where my swimmers were soaking. I have been kept busy doing my art classes which I am loving… it is quite relaxing and a bit stressful at the same time. Hopefully it will encourage me to get out some of my paints at home and have a go. I am still hanging around in the gym but am not there long enough to balance out my intake of calories!! Peter has been going to lots of movies which he is enjoying. Of course today I thought I would go and see “Water for Elephants” but they could not get it started in time so missed out on that one. Tonight is a semi-formal night which means coats for men but not necessarily a tie. We are going to a piano recital first which is for half an hour before our dinner time of 8.30pm. Our murder mystery game concluded this morning and we did NOT reach the correct answer but had it half correct. It went every day for the last 7 days for an hour each morning where we got to interview each of the 9 suspects twice plus ask them questions during the court case while under oath. It was very funny and a lot of fun. Some people really took it very seriously. And yes Barry it was the same guy that was on your Arcadia cruise.
The casino here is very archaic so have not been tempted much there. Actually there is virtually no-one in the casino which is in stark contrast to the Aussie ships. The after dinner entertainment has been very ordinary to say the least with the P&O entertainment dancers and singers being the best so far.
The “Renewal of Vows” ceremony that we went to was a lot of fun and went from 4.30pm to midnight which was a long day but a very enjoyable time and a lot of fun as most of the other people knew each other from having dinner every night. We started with drinks in the bar pre ceremony, then the ceremony, then more drinks and canapés after followed by pre dinner drinks followed by a nice meal in The Orchard restaurant which is one of the specialty restaurants followed by a late night drink before retiring to bed. The couple are Paula and John and have been married for 18 years.
I am finishing this post now after the show which was excellent. It was the P&O singers and dancers and the show was called “Destinations”.. a mix of Can Can, Irish dancing and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I put 5 pounds in the pokies on our way through and got 50 pounds so cashed in and here I am.
We are off the ship early in the morning and have to attend a face to face passport check which I am guessing is going to be long and tedious with a lot of standing around. We are going on a P&O organised tour on a catamaran for half of the day with some snorkelling then some overland sightseeing which includes lunch in a local restaurant. Hopefully the weather will be nice as it was a bit overcast today but still quite warm although the water in the pool is cooling down a tad.
Off to bed now so we can be up early for Mauritius.
Love to all.
Sharaon, Peter, G'day! Sharaon, your idea to use this blog site has worked very well, your implementation is great! I am going to be interested to hear about the nuts and bolts of it from ship facilities point of view. As predicted the cost of the 104 day RTW that I was looking at for May has now been cut by close to 50% for most rooms. They are almost giving away some segments! But we're not going. Good show, we are following right along daily with you guys. Ken
